Flight Booking App Wireframe

A flight booking app wireframe template is a set of editable screens for selling airfare on mobile: flight search, date selection, results, fare choice and checkout. This free example rebuilds 15 screens from the Hopper iOS app, including a color-coded price calendar, a fare comparison, disruption protection, a Price Freeze checkout and hotel and car rental add-ons. Teams working on flight booking app design can edit it online in Whimsical.

Hopper's flight search and checkout as editable wireframes, with hotel and car rental add-ons.

What's included

  • Search and price calendar. Round-trip, one-way and multi-city tabs, Include Basic Fares and Nonstop Only toggles, and a calendar that colors each date by price band.
  • Results and fare selection. Round-trip results with times, stops and duration, filtered by fare class, then a fare screen with Premium Economy Lite and Business Flexi and the bag, seat and change rules.
  • Itinerary, protection and Price Freeze. An itinerary confirmation with an offer to hold the fare from $38, a protection screen with delay and cancellation tiers, and a Price Freeze checkout.
  • Hotel and home add-ons. A homes search for the city you're flying to, a hotel listing with top picks, and a review screen with taxes, fees and an applied voucher.
  • Payment, trip summary and profile. A card entry form, a car rental trip summary with pick-up details, and a profile with wallet, traveler details and frozen prices.

Why use a flight booking app wireframe?

  • Show a month of prices at once. Airfare changes by the day. The price calendar colors every date in four bands, from $250+ to $280+, so a flexible traveler spots the cheap days before opening a single result.
  • Make fare differences explicit. The fare screen lists what Premium Economy Lite includes, one carry-on bag and seat selection, and what it doesn't, since the ticket is non-refundable.
  • Sequence the add-ons. Protection and Price Freeze appear only after a flight is chosen, an order your team can copy or change on purpose.
  • Plan the cross-sell. Homes, hotels and a car rental follow the flight, so the wireframes show how one search grows into a whole trip.
  • Check what the buyer pays. Fares are marked incl. taxes and the hotel review breaks out taxes, fees and a voucher, so the team can check every total before visual design.

How to use this template

  1. Duplicate the template. Copy the 15 Hopper screens into your Whimsical workspace.
  2. Decide what search asks. Keep or cut the multi-city tab, the basic fare toggle and the nonstop filter, and decide how travelers pick flexible dates.
  3. Set your fare families. Rename the fare cards and list what each includes: bags, seats, changes and refunds.
  4. Choose your add-ons. Keep, change or delete the protection, Price Freeze, hotel and car screens to match what you sell.
  5. Test with a long route. Fill the results with a real long-haul trip, like a one-stop flight over 21 hours, to see whether the cards still fit.

Flight search app vs fare-tracking app

A flight search app answers what a traveler can book right now, with live results, fares and checkout. A fare-tracking app answers when to book, watching a route and alerting the traveler when the price drops. Hopper combines the two: a Price Freeze and a note about the flight you're watching sit next to a regular search and checkout.

Frequently asked questions

  • Design a flight booking app around comparison. Let travelers see prices across dates, show times, stops, duration and fare class on every result, and spell out bags, seats and refund rules before payment. Add-ons belong after the flight choice, not before it. This template lays out search to checkout as editable Whimsical wireframes.

  • A flight booking app needs a search form, a way to compare dates, flight results, fare selection, traveler details, add-ons such as bags and seats, payment and a trip summary. This template wireframes 15 screens from Hopper, including a price calendar, disruption protection and hotel add-ons. A full product also needs check-in, boarding passes and flight status alerts.

  • Hopper's iOS app. It's a useful reference because it sells timing as much as tickets, with a price calendar, a fare hold and delay protection in the main flow. The 15 wireframes were made from screenshots on Mobbin, which sit beside them with a link to each screen. Imagery and branding are removed, and Whimsical isn't affiliated with Hopper.

  • Yes, with App Wireframe, the open-source agent skill used to build this flight booking wireframe. Name an airline or travel booking app and it pulls the key screens from Mobbin, then rebuilds each as an editable Whimsical wireframe beside its screenshot. It also accepts your own screenshots, such as a booking flow you want to rework. Under the hood it's an AI agent using the Whimsical MCP server, with the Mobbin MCP server added for apps you name.

  • A fare calendar is a month view that shows the lowest price for each departure date, usually colored from cheap to expensive. It lets travelers with flexible dates find savings before choosing a flight. Hopper's version uses four color bands. NN/g's research on date input recommends calendar pickers for dates less than a year out and for date ranges, which fits round trips.
