How to copy from FigJam to WhimsicalCopied!Link to this section

1. Open your FigJam board and select what you want to bring over. You can copy a single object, a section, or a mixed selection.
2. Copy it with Cmd + C (Mac) or Ctrl + C (PC).
3. Open a Whimsical board and paste with Cmd + V (Mac) or Ctrl + V (PC).

It works from FigJam in the browser or the desktop app. Everything arrives as a single step, so one undo removes the whole paste.

You can also import a whole FigJam file. In FigJam, choose Save local copy to get a .jam file. Drag the file onto a Whimsical board, or copy the file and paste it onto the board.

A file with several pages lands as one section for each page. To make a board of each page, drop the file on a folder. A file with several pages becomes a multipage file with one board for each page.

The pictures in the file come across as attachments, with their crops. GIFs stay animated. Stamps that have no Whimsical match show their pictures. Pictures over your workspace's upload limit are left out. A message tells you how many, and from which file.

You can drop FigJam and Visio files together. They paste side by side, as one.

• Images don't come across. To bring an image over, select it in FigJam, choose Copy as PNG, and paste it separately.
• Some shapes. Shapes without a Whimsical match keep their text and color but become rectangles. Pentagons and octagons become hexagons.
• Some icons can arrive as gray placeholder icons but will keep their captions.
• Widgets and plugins are skipped, apart from link previews and embeds. Connectors that were attached to a widget keep a loose end.
• Colors are matched, not copied exactly. You can update your color theme to match your brand.
• Fonts, text color and line thickness aren't carried over. Text is shown in our Dinsical font. If one object mixes text sizes, it uses the size most of its text is in.
• Shapes and icons snap to the nearest right angle, so a slightly tilted shape pastes straight.
• Sticky note authors and profile avatar stamps stay behind.

• Work section by section so it's easy to check the result as you go.
• Paste into a fresh Whimsical board first while you get a feel for it.
• If you see Couldn't paste selection, try copying fewer objects at a time.

No. Copy objects in FigJam, in the browser or the desktop app, and paste them into a Whimsical board. There's nothing to install or export.
