You don’t need to rebuild your boards from scratch if you’re planning to move from Miro to Whimsical. Most Miro objects can be copied and pasted straight into Whimsical, where they arrive as fully editable objects.
A few things do behave differently. None of them will break your board, but they’re worth knowing before you paste a large selection.
Images don’t come across yet. Images arrive as empty placeholder rectangles in the right position and at the right size. Your layout stays intact, so you can drop the real images back in afterwards without moving anything around.
Some objects become plain rectangles. Anything without a direct Whimsical equivalent, like embeds, videos, cards, or app widgets, is kept as a plain rectangle at the correct position and size rather than being dropped. Your layout stays readable and you can decide what to replace.
Mind maps and wireframes come across as shapes. Miro mind map nodes arrive as individual shapes with the connectors between them, rather than as an editable Whimsical mind map, so you won’t get auto-layout or collapsible branches. Miro wireframe elements like buttons and inputs arrive as plain rectangles carrying their labels.
Colors are matched, not copied exactly. Whimsical boards use a curated palette, so each Miro color is matched to the nearest available color in your board theme. The result looks consistent, but a specific brand HEX won’t always survive the trip unchanged. You can, however, always update your color theme in Whimsical to match your brand colors.
Custom fonts aren’t carried over. Whimsical does not support custom fonts so your text will be displayed in our Dinsical font.
Connector endpoints are simplified. Custom endpoint styles like circles and diamonds become a standard Whimsical arrow. Direction and dashed styling are preserved.
Board metadata stays behind. Tags, comments, votes, reactions, and timers aren’t part of what Miro puts on the clipboard, so they won’t paste across.
There’s a size limit per paste. A single paste handles up to 2,000 objects, and tables up to 2,000 cells.
